Thursday Thought - Be Present

On a background of black cards with multi-coloured holographic foiling is a single card named, "Be Present." The card depicts a boquet of flowers being held by a skeleton hand with skulls in the centre of each flower.

✨August 24th, 2023 - Be Present✨

Good Morning Mystics!

I've been practicing being truly present in the moment. Sometimes I'll stare out the window, aware of my body, the thoughts that float around in my mind, and the way the trees sway, how sun light dances on the green leaves, how a squirrel will run by on the fence—and oh, a butterfly! I'm finding I like getting lost in the present full of presence because I see things I may have missed if I wasn't so aware. If I wasn't here, and now.

In the space between tarot readings I'll sit back and relax, let things flow through me. Sometimes I'll get up and walk because movement helps clear energy or anything that lingers from a session. But I'll come fully into my body and a deep presence of where I am, who I am, the amazingness of what I'm doing and how it feels so right.

At times, we aren't always present. An experience or thought or situation plagues our mind. Either we're stuck in the past or we're too focused on the future to see what's in front of us. I know I've done this a lot until I started bringing an awareness to it. Until I started practicing presence. Consciousness. It's amazing how the world opens up when we step fully into our bodies in the here and now, this very moment and what it brings us. There is magic in it. A sense of home. Of longing. Of yearning. Of being. Of living.

It just simply is. And that's enough. That's wonderful on its own. We can be present and still exist in memories of the past and dreams of the future. But the present asks us to live in the now, right here. To taste the ripe strawberries, and eat delicious food; to laugh with friends; to have too many Fuzzy Peaches Candy; to feel the winter wind or summer heat on your skin; hear the crunch of fall leaves under your shoes; smell the blossoming flowers of Spring.

My challenge for you today: Take a couple minutes to be present with where you are, who you are, and what's going on around you, within you. Let it all settle about you like a polar fleece blanket and notice what it's like to be present right now. How do you feel?

Note: This post will not resonate with everyone and that's okay. Take what does and leave the rest. Trust your intuition!
