✨July 27th, 2023 - Thursday Thought ~ Morning Glory✨
Good Morning Mystics!
When I was part of the Kickstarter for this amazing Green Glyphs collection by James R. Eads, I saw the card pictured above and knew it was going to be on my altar where I could view it daily. Honestly, I want most of the oracle cards on my altar, including certain tarot, lenormand, and rune cards—which is why I have them in a four-slot card holder that came with the box collection! How perfect!
✨
This card also brought to mind a haiku I'd read in Natalie Goldberg's book, Old Friend from Far Away. She's one of my favourite authors who talks about writing and being a writer. She's helped me a lot on my journey as a writer / author, and I re-visit her books often. Here's the haiku, written by Basho:
"Morning Glory!
Another thing
I will never know"
This simplistic haiku holds such wisdom and space within my mind whenever I read it. And this card makes me think of it often. To me, it's about savouring and relishing the small things in life. The big things. The comfortable things. Even the uncomfortable because we get to experience all shades of life as the holographic foil background of the card shows. It just depends on how you shift the card.
✨
And, like the card, the haiku can be contemplated or left to stew in the mystery of it all. Of the words, the images, the feelings. It doesn't need to have meaning. I can just like it because I like it. But it's interesting how we make connections between things, moving from one thought to another. From one memory to another.
✨
Basho's haiku also makes me wonder what I may never know in my lifetime. What mysteries will remain a mystery? What things will I not learn? That's something I may never know, especially if it's not meant for me. How exciting and baffling! Maybe a little weird, even, but hey, it's a Thursday Thought post—I'm meant to question and explore and be a tad weird!
Note: This post will not resonate with everyone and that's okay. Take what does and leave the rest. Trust your intuition!
