Thursday Thought - We Are Nature

A single card rests on top of cards, the backgrounds of which are roses and magic. The card reads, "We Are Nature." In it, a woman is laying on grass, and there are flowers and sticks, and braided grass woven about the woman in a designed fashion.

August 31st, 2023 - We Are Nature

Good Morning Mystics!

One of the questions I've been living into deeply comes from Rebecca Campbell. The statement, "We are nature" has captured my attention, and ever since I've been learning what it means to me. In today's post, I go into what this phrase has brought me, what I've been living into, and how it's forming other areas of my life.

I was having a discussion with someone recently about moods—we have our good moods and our bad moods. Our ups and our downs. The conversation was mostly centred around the fact that we give each other such a bad time over being in a "bad" mood. It's like all the times we were in good ones disappear! We think those "good" moods won't come back and we'll be stuck in the blues.

Now I want you to imagine you're waking up one morning and it's a gorgeous, bright, warm sunny day! The morning goes by in a flash and suddenly the afternoon is grey, there's hail and rain, and dark clouds filled with thunder. What happened? The day was gorgeous and now it's not!

Now I want you to imagine it's a different morning and you've woken to the thunder, the rain, and a slight chill. It's not pleasant (although rainy days mean curling up in a blanket with a good book!), but you continue along your day until suddenly the clouds part to let beautiful rays of sunshine and heat through. The rest of the afternoon is wonderful!

The above analogies are examples of Mother Nature going through cycles and the cool part is they can be applied to our moods and our own cycles. And this is something I've really tuned into on my journey. It's fascinating to watch and be aware of changes in myself and changes in others. How even the weather can affect us, or someone else. Quite literally, we are nature. This is what makes us human.

And I've been paying close attention to my cycles. What happens when I'm up? What happens when I'm low? Do I do anything to lift myself up or bring myself down? What does my body crave during my highs and lows? It's quite a fascinating approach and perspective to view life through, and I've had a lot of fun. It's allowed me to pause when someone seems off and not entirely themselves. I question what cycle they are in, even if it's a season—something else Rebecca Campbell talks about: the inner spring, summer, fall, and winter.

I'm still forming my own ideas on what I find a very interesting topic and perspective. But it's brought a softness into my life, into my being, and I can't wait to see where else it brings me!

Note: This post will not resonate with everyone and that's okay. Take what does and leave the rest. Trust your intuition!

**Note: Any mention of Rebecca Campbell is not for compensation. This is me talking about my personal journey and teachers who have influenced me greatly.
