Thursday Thought - Chaos pt. 2

Empyrean Oracle by Threads of Fate

September 28th, 2023 - Chaos pt. 2

Good Evening Mystics!

I hope you enjoyed the first post in this series! If you haven't read it, click here.

It's day two in a series of three posts where I delve into two topics before bringing them together. The idea came to me when I pulled out two cards from the Empyrean Oracle by Threads of Fate. I could see connections between the cards, and I just had to explore them together! Now, the Empyrean Oracle is composed of 44 cards and was made with lenticular print which is why I have two images pictured. Each card has a companion card. The two topics / cards I'll be talking about aren't card companions—but I'll do this at some point too!

Now, let's get into our second topic: Chaos! The Oracle Guidebook likens chaos to the shadow side of our being; the things we don't want to look at, but beg for our attention anyways. Patterns, thoughts, ways of being that don't serve us, but we continue them anyways because they're familiar. They helped us once so maybe they can help us again. It can also be beliefs or stories we tell ourselves that keep us contained or bound to the old.

Things might appear as if they're not going in our favour, or we have difficult experience after difficult experience. It's like life is testing us on our journey to see if we really have understood what we've learned / have been practicing so far. We're trying to find our way amidst the crazy whirl pool of our own emotions & thoughts and those of others, so no wonder it gets a little chaotic. And, things can impact us even if it's not about us. Our hearts go out to someone, a cause, or an event. Maybe someone makes a comment that puts us in a bad mood, and we create walls to shield ourselves in case we get hurt again.

Why do we give people that power over us? This is one of the questions I've started looking into about myself and others. I'll include the question, "why do I give so much weight to another person's opinion about myself when I know who I am on the inside—when I know my truth?" And, "Who gets to tell me who I am and who I'm not but me?"

The answers to these questions stem from the desire to be enough and part of the community. Yet, we also have the desire to be loved and seen as we truly are. In society, a lot of the time we fear we won't be accepted and this is part of our chaos, and, dare I say it, the human condition.

The good news is we're constantly learning, growing—evolving. One day we won't feel this way. In facing our chaos, we see the truth. In facing our chaos, we can lovingly create space for ourselves and move towards change. For myself, my journey started when I realized I couldn't continue reliving old patterns. I needed to change the destructive patterns and limiting thoughts & beliefs. And boy, do I still have a journey ahead of me, but the awakening occurred and it sparked action. I'm not mad at my chaos, nor do I hate it as I did once upon a time.

In any given moment, we need time to tune out the extra noise and focus on ourselves. How are we doing? Has a specific trigger been set off? Where are these thoughts and / or emotions coming from? Is this a story and / or belief I want to continue using? If not, how can I begin changing my perspective? By taking an inquisitive approach, we learn to respond rather than react. We learn to befriend our chaos and not let it control us. Of course, baby steps are the way to go as we start out, creating change within us little by little.

And don't worry if you return to the way you used to things. We take steps forward and take steps back. It's how we learn and grow. The progress you've made isn't gone—it's still there along with all your achievements on this path. The return is showing you an area that needs more attention ❤️

Before I end this post, I'd like to address the way I use the word chaos. Our shadow isn't bad. By understanding it and how we work, we can shine our light more. Calling it chaos is one way of looking at it because this is how I once saw my shadow and its impact in my life until I changed my perspective. It seemed like it brought chaos and chaotic things. And, this might be how you view your shadow, or another sees theirs at this moment in time. It can change, too. And by all means you can absolutely use a different word, and I encourage you to find the one that's right for you.

I hope you enjoyed today's post! Join me next week as I bring the topics flow and chaos together.

Note: This post will not resonate with everyone and that's okay. Take what does and leave the rest. Trust your intuition!
